In 2010-2011, York distributed more than $50M in financial assistance, scholarships and awards to students to ensure they had access to a university education.

Six Steps to Financial Success at York

  1. Student Financial Profile (SFP)
    The SFP is used apply for both merit-based and need-based scholarships and bursaries. Some awards have specific criteria such as community service or extracurricular activities. The SFP should be submitted during the application phase (after you submit your application for admission and before you receive a decision/or make a decision on your application.  The deadline for the Entrance SFP for the FW 2011 term has now passed.

  2. OSAP
    The Ontario Student Assistance Program is government loans and grants. To ensure you receive your funds by September, you must submit your OSAP application and supporting information and documentation no later than June 30. (For students starting in January, submit by October 29. For students starting in May, submit by March 31.) If your application and supporting documents are received after this date, your loans document will not be processed in time for the September/October loans distribution timeframe as well as University tuition fee deadlines. Out-of-province students should apply to the student financial assistance program in their home province.

  3. Campus Employment
    There are many opportunities to work part-time on campus during the school year. York has four campus employment programs designed to meet the needs of all students. Positions for the fall/winter are normally posted in August and September.

  4. External Awards
    Many organizations send the University advertisements for awards or scholarships that they are giving out.  Please check our Web site on a regular basis for updates and helpful links.

  5. Student Access Guarantee
    York University is committed to ensuring qualified students with demonstrated financial need have the funds to cover direct educational costs (tuition, books and mandatory course fees) associated with their academic endeavours.

  6. Online Awards Search
    All of the scholarships, awards and bursaries that the University offers are listed on this online search tool.  You may search our awards by Faculty, citizenship, or a key word.
