Sidebar

This field of the Master's program in Nursing is designed to prepare nurse practitioners for advanced professional practice in a variety of primary health care roles needed for our contemporary health care system.

Through the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner field students will meet both the objectives of the MScN degree, as well as those specific to the PHCNP.

Goals are to:

  • Provide opportunities for students to analyze and integrate theories, models, concepts and frameworks from advanced practice nursing, nursing and related disciplines.
  • Prepare graduates who can incorporate principles of evidence-based practice and contribute to knowledge development for the role of the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Prepare nurses to practice in the PHCNP role in an ethical and legal manner that reflects an understanding of human values, diversity and health and social policy-related issues.
