Indigenous Applicant Additional Information

It’s about more than grades.

At York, we recognize Indigenous knowledge and our responsibilities to Indigenous people and communities. After you apply, we invite you to complete this additional information form in order to receive important information on Indigenous programs, scholarships and bursaries, events and student services.

This form also allows York Admissions, with guidance from the Indigenous Council, to take into consideration your lived experience when reviewing your application. While academic performance is the main criterion for admission consideration at York University, we understand that there may be other factors that you may wish to bring to our attention during the admissions assessment process.

Please take a few minutes to share a little about yourself to help us complete a holistic review of your application.

Note: We do not require a photocopy or proof of Indian Status cards, Metis cards or any other government documentation indicating Aboriginal/Indigenous citizenship. Your self-identification is entirely voluntary.

Confidentiality: This information will not be retained as part of your student record but will be shared with the Centre for Indigenous Student Services. Your contact information will be shared with relevant departments to notify you of funding opportunities and Indigenous support services to foster academic success.

Disclaimer: Submitting this form does not guarantee admission to your desired program or to York University.
