Nursing

York's unique MScN program offers cutting-edge innovation and foundational values for nurses who want to be the leaders, educators and advanced nurse practitioners of tomorrow.

The program, philosophically aligned with the human science tradition, makes a distinct departure from conventional nursing curricula. It draws on multiple theoretical perspectives that focus on human experiences and the meanings, patterns and themes that emerge in human living. We integrate human science and relational principles with theoretical knowledge on transformational and organizational leadership, caring and narrative pedagogies, global and local policy and human health experiences.

Teachers and students in the MScN program are partners in a dynamic, collaborative process of discovery that includes dialogue, modelling, practice, reflective thinking and experiential group process.

The program provides students with a solid foundation of research skills, critical analysis and the ability to contribute to life-enhancing change in the health-care system, including through study in the field of Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
