Articulation Agreements and Programs with Georgian College

General Arts and Science Program at Georgian College

Students of the General Arts and Science Program at Georgian College, who have completed all 1st and 2nd semester courses of the program with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%), may be conditionally admitted to take up to 12 credits at York University while they pursue their current program. Students who have completed all 1st semester courses with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and are enrolled in 2nd semester courses of the General Arts and Science Program may also be conditionally admitted. Students must also meet any additional program or degree specific admission requirements to be considered for admission at York University.

Graduates from the General Arts and Science Program at Georgian College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and who have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements, will be granted a block of 45 credits when entering any Bachelor level program in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science at York University. Graduates applying to other Faculties at York may also be granted a block of 45 transfer credits, such as to the Psychology program in the Faculty of Health. Graduates that have taken York University courses while completing their Georgian College program may earn up to 57 credits before registering full time at York University.

Depending on the electives chosen in the General Arts and Science program at Georgian College and the desired program at York University, a student may need to complete more than the minimum of 75 credits toward a total of 120 credits required to graduate from York University.

General Arts and Science Certificate

Graduates from the General Arts and Science Certificate Program at Georgian College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and who have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements, will be granted a block of 18 credits when entering any Bachelor level program in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, the Faculty of Health or other Faculties at York University.

Graduates from the General Arts and Science Certificate Program at Georgian College must also earn a minimum of B or 70% in PSY 1001 and PSY1002 in order to receive a course waiver towards the introductory major requirement in Psychology at York University. Students will be deemed to have satisfied the Humanities area of the General Education requirements for Liberal Arts and Professional Studies.

Georgian College’s Fine Arts Advanced Diploma

Students who have graduated in 2011 (or later) from Georgian College’s Fine Arts Advanced Diploma with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B) will be eligible for admission consideration and granted 60 transfer credits toward the Visual Art and Art History (VAAH) program of York University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. Applicants must also successfully complete an entrance portfolio review conducted by a VAAH faculty member to be admitted to the program.

Incoming students will be required to complete 60 additional credits at York University (total of 120 credits) to receive their degree.

Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma

Students currently enrolled in the Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma at Georgian College may be considered eligible for admission.

Graduates from the Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma at Georgian College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and who have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements, will be granted a block of 45 credits when entering the BA Honours in Kinesiology in the Faculty of Health or any other undergraduate Faculty at York University. Students applying to the Kinesiology program will be considered to have met the Biology admission requirement. Students who do not have the Math12U prerequisite for the BA or BSc in Kinesiology (or other programs) may be admitted on the condition that they complete SC/MATH 1510.60 within the first 24 credits taken at York University.
