English Studies

Join the next generation of creative communicators in an English Studies program at York University’s close-knit Glendon campus. Learn about literature from a multitude of countries and time periods or concentrate on dramatic texts from international English-speaking countries – the choice is yours! Is writing your passion? Pair your degree with the newest Certificate in Creative Writing Across Contexts (CWAC). By taking CWAC courses, you'll get experience in all aspects of the writing process, including writing, workshopping, editing, publishing, and promoting your work. If you’re interested in teaching English, the Discipline of Teaching English as an International Language (D-TEIL) Certificate is a great option; you'll get hands-on experience with a three-week international teaching practicum in one of our partner universities in Brazil or Colombia.

Pair this with the option to learn multiple languages in a bilingual+ campus and the chance to gain a Certificate in the Discipline of Teaching English as an International Language, and you have opened the doors to a huge range of careers. Think publisher, editor, fundraiser, paralegal and beyond.
