French Studies @ Glendon

Across Canada, French language skills are an asset when applying for federal public sector jobs, and a necessity for advancing to higher-ranking positions.

York’s Minor, Major, Honours and Specialized Honours programs are designed to enhance students’ active communication skills and to develop an appreciation of Francophone cultures and literatures. French Studies will also enable participants to master evaluation and logic analysis methods. Interestingly, the very nature of French Studies promotes non-Cartesian ways of thinking, such as intuition, imagination and aesthetics, and helps students cultivate differing points of view when problem solving.

A Fully Bilingual Program

Glendon is the only fully bilingual Faculty of its kind in Canada.

York's Glendon Campus is the ideal setting for specializing in French Studies. Our professors are leaders in their fields, and the learning extends beyond the classroom to our fully bilingual campus. Boost your language skills through our bilingual student clubs and campus support services, and by meeting up with Francophone students.

Internationalize Your Degree

Offered at the Glendon Campus, an International Bachelor of Arts (iBA) degree program reflects York's commitment to internationalization and includes advanced-level language training and an international experience on exchange at one of our partner institutions abroad.
