Canadian Business for Internationally Educated Professionals

Canadian Business for Internationally Educated Professionals

Liberal Arts & Professional Studies

Certificates allow you to complete a specific group of university courses (for credit) as either part of your degree studies or separately. Additional details on certificates are available here.

Facilitating the transition of internationally educated professionals (IEP) into Canada is a high priority for government, non-governmental organizations, professional accreditation bodies as well as private sector organizations. York is committed to developing a long term strategy for promoting the successful transition of IEPs to Canadian employment commensurate with their foreign qualifications.

This Professional Certificate in Canadian Business for Internationally Educated Professionals appeals to those who already have a degree from outside of Canada in one of the following areas and require some orientation to the Canadian context:
  • accounting
  • finance
  • management
  • marketing
  • public administration

The program offers students the foundational skills necessary to succeed in securing positions in business in the Canadian context, while also (in some cases) fulfilling the majority of requirements toward a professional designation.

Who can take it?

This certificate is open to the following applicants:
  1. current participants in the Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Professionals, or
  2. new applicants to York who already hold a university degree from an accredited non-Canadian institution and have resided in Canada for a duration of no more than 3 years.

How to apply

  1. If you are a current participant in the Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Professionals, contact the program office directly about eligibility requirements and how to apply.
  2. If you are a new applicant to York and already have a university degree from an accredited non-Canadian institution, you must ensure first that you meet the minimum requirements for the certificate program and then apply through the Office of Admissions. You would then also make a separate inquiry to the Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Professionals, as noted in item 1 above.
