As part of the new Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University, this program centres on finding sustainable solutions to the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Through the application of inclusive and sustainable planning practices, the Cities, Regions, Planning program prepares you with the fundamental knowledge, critical thinking skills, hands-on experience, and global perspectives necessary to make positive change.
Students benefit from internship opportunities, field- and lab-based exercises, and optional global experience at York University’s Las Nubes EcoCampus. You will learn to apply inclusive and sustainable planning interventions, consulting skills, governance and political procedures and activist tools to manage urban growth and mitigate environmental impacts. Taught by internationally recognized urban scholars and planning practitioners, York University's Cities, Regions, Planning program explores how to make positive changes in the cities, suburbs, and regional areas we live in. Students engage with communities in Toronto, across Canada and abroad gaining hands-on experiences of processes of urban transformations, community-based initiatives and policy challenges.
