Follow to Win Raptors Contest Rules

  1. Contest Period
    The York University Study at York U Follow to Win Contest (the “Contest”) is organized by York University as represented by the Division of Students (the “Organizer”), and will take place from 8:30 a.m., Eastern Time (EST) November 1, 2024, to 4:30 p.m. EST January 3, 2025, (the “Contest Period”).

  2. Eligibility
    1. The Contest is open only to legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside at the time of entry, that are followers of @StudyatYorkU on Instagram.
    2. You are not eligible to enter if you are:
      1. an employee, representative or agent of York University, its advertising or promotional agencies, professional representatives, printing suppliers, licensees or the prize supplier;
      2. a retailer on any of York University’s campuses; or
      3. a member of the immediate family of any of the above persons (i.e. spouse, child, sibling, parent) or a member of the household of any of the above persons.

  3. How To Enter
    1. No purchase is necessary to enter.
    2. Follow @StudyatYorkU Instagram profile at https://www.instagram.com/studyatyorku/.
    3. Like the official contest post on @StudyatYorkU Instagram profile at https://www.instagram.com/studyatyorku/.
    4. Tag / @ mention a friend (active Instagram account) in the comments of the official contest post on @StudyatYorkU Instagram profile at https://www.instagram.com/studyatyorku/.
    5. Your Instagram profile handle will then be used to enter you into a random draw for a chance to win a prize.
    6. You may submit only one (1) entry.
    7. Entries must be received before the contest closing date, 4:30 p.m. EST January 3, 2025.
    8. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest or which violate or are deemed ineligible under these Official Rules.
    9. Entries must not contain any obscene or defamatory statements, including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a particular race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability or age (as determined in the selection committee’s sole discretion).
    10. The Organizer is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, illegible, misdirected, stolen, delayed, damaged or destroyed entries, or for any unavailable network connections, failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions, online failures, hardware, software or other technical functions or disturbances or any other communications failures or circumstances affecting, disrupting or corrupting the Contest in any manner.

  4. Prizes
    1. There is one (1) Raptors Prize package that will be awarded to one (1) eligible winner. The prize pack, valued at $378.94, consists of:
      1. Two (2) Raptors Single Game Ticket to the January 21, 2025, game against Orlando Magic.
      2. Two (2) Raptors Ladies Colour Block Scarves.
      3. Two (2) Tonal Cuffed Toque - Red.
      4. One (1) Raptors ‘We the North’ Stick Flag.
      5. One (1) Raptor Mascot Cibi Plush.
    2. One (1) entry will be randomly selected, by the Organizer.
    3. The selected winner will receive a direct message notification via Instagram from the @StudyatYorkU official account informing them that they have been selected for the prize after January 15, 2025. The selected winner must respond and confirm acceptance of the prize within three (3) business days of the direct message.
    4. In the event that a selected winner does not respond to the Organizer within three (3) business days of notification or does not comply with the Official Contest Rules, the prize will be forfeited, and the prize will be reassigned through random draw. The new winning Entrant(s) will have three (3) business days to confirm acceptance.
    5. No cash alternative or substitution of the prize is provided, except that York University, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the prize is unavailable for any reason. The prize is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind and must be accepted as awarded. York University disclaims all warranties including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
    6. Prize is not transferable unless authorized in writing by York University before the transfer is made. Such authorization may be granted or withheld in York University’s sole discretion.
    7. Any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the winner.
    8. In order to be declared a winner, the selected winner(s) will be required to answer a skill testing question and swear an affidavit indicating eligibility and compliance with these Official Contest Rules. In the event that the winner has not yet reached the age of 18 years or the age of majority in the winner’s province or territory of residence, then the selected winner’s parent/legal guardian must sign the affidavit to confirm compliance and consent with these Official Contest Rules and to accept the prize on behalf of the minor and provide a release and indemnity pursuant to Subsection 5(d) below.

  5. Conditions of Participation
    1. By participating in this Contest, you agree:
      1. to be bound by these Official Contest Rules and the decisions of the Organizer, whose decisions are final;
      2. to release and indemnify and hold harmless York University, its advertising and promotional agencies, the prize suppliers, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, owners, agents, contractors, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with or arising out of this Contest, the awarding of the prize, the use of any personal information or the use of merchandise purchased in relation to winning a prize.

  6. Termination
    York University also reserves the right, without prior notice, and at any time, to terminate the Contest, in whole or in part or modify, suspend, or extend the Contest in any way.

  7. General Provisions
    1. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Contest Rules does not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.
