Note: You may see your offer of admission on MyFile but notice it does not yet appear on your OUAC account. Kindly wait 1-2 business days and check back, to allow for a short processing delay.
Ready to say yes to York?
Log in to MyFile to view the status of your application and to accept your offer of admission to York University.
Once logged in, click 'Application Status' on the left menu bar. The next screen will display all programs you have applied to at York. As a reminder, you may only accept an offer of admission to one program/university. For programs with a decision of 'Admitted, you may click ‘Accept/Decline Offer’ in the Next Steps column:
If you applied to York University through the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC), you will be prompted to use your OUAC reference number to log in to your OUAC application and accept your offer. Once you’ve submitted your response you will receive a confirmation number from OUAC. If you need assistance, contact undergradsup@ouac.on.ca.
Note: Your acceptance of your offer on the OUAC site will take a few days to be reflected on MyFile. Continue to refer to MyFile to confirm the status of your offer, apply to residence and more.

A deferral is a postponement of your admission. As a newly admitted first-year student you may request a deferral. We grant deferrals only in very exceptional cases and on a restricted basis.

York provides comprehensive support for students with temporary or permanent disabilities through Student Accessibility Services (SAS). These services include development of an academic accommodation plan, referral to campus and community supports and specialized programming for students with physical, sensory, medical, learning or mental health disabilities.
Register with SASApply for a Study Permit or Visa (if Applicable)
Starting January 22, 2024, you’ll need a provincial attestation letter as part of your study permit application package. Find out more about this new requirement.
If you are a first-year international student joining us from another country, you must make sure you apply for a Study Permit and/or Temporary Resident Visa before you arrive in Canada.
Access Your Decision Letter and Acceptance/Visa Letter
The following letters are available to you on MyFile:
- Your formal offer letter or Decision Letter contains the details and conditions of your admission to York University.
- Your Acceptance/Visa Letter is addressed to "the Embassy of Canada or Immigration Officer."
- Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) may ask you for an unconditional acceptance letter. You may use your Acceptance/Visa Letter for your study permit application, as this letter does not list any conditions of your offer to York.
No additional Decision Letter or Acceptance/Visa Letter will be issued after you clear the conditions of your admission. The documents in the Admission Letters tab should be considered the final versions.
Note that your "Decision Letter and Acceptance/Visa Letter" will not be mailed to you. It will usually be available for download in the "Admission Letters" tab of your MyFile account within five business days of your admission decision.

First-year, full-time students coming from high school are guaranteed a space in residence for the next fall if they apply for residence by their respective housing application deadlines.
The housing application will become available via the Apply for Residence page.
Fall (September) Entry:
- If you are an Ontario high school student, you are guaranteed a residence assignment for Fall 2024 if you apply for housing by June 3, 2024.
- If you are a high school student from out-of-province, you are guaranteed a residence assignment for Fall 2024 if you apply for housing by May 1, 2024.
- If you are 28 years of age or older you are eligible to apply for apartment housing. Learn more.
- Offers of residence for the Fall term begin in June.
- Kindly note that a guaranteed residence assignment does not guarantee a specific room type. (eg. single vs double; suite style).
Winter (January) Entry:
- Residence may be available for the Winter term. Students starting their first year at York in Winter will receive housing information by email in November/December.
- Apply as soon as you can. Spaces fill quickly! Call the Housing office at 416-736-5152 or email undergradres@yorku.ca. For more information, visit the Housing website.
Summer (May) Entry:
- Residence is available for the Summer session. The summer residence application opens March 1. For more information, visit the Housing website

Book Your Enrolment Appointment
If you were admitted for Fall 2024, course enrolment will open later in the spring. However, you may be prompted to book an enrolment appointment now.
After you have accepted your offer of admission, and depending on your program of choice, you may be required to book an enrolment/course selection appointment OR instructed to complete your enrolment/course selection online at a later time.
To see whether you have any enrolment-related instructions at present, you will visit MyFile and read your instructions carefully.
For all new undergraduate students at York, participation in enrolment/course selection support means you will:
- Get help picking your courses and planning your academic schedule.
- Find out what transfer credit you’re eligible for.
- Learn how to enrol in courses.
- Find out how and when to pay your tuition fees.
If you see “Book/Manage” in the Advising column next to your program name, you must book an enrolment/course selection appointment. Click the link provided there and follow the instructions. This is available to students in the Lassonde School of Engineering, Nursing students, some Liberal Arts & Professional Studies programs, some Faculty of Science and students not entering York directly from high school
If you see “Learn When your Online Course Enrolment Begins” in the Advising column next to your program name, you must complete your enrolment/course selection online. Click the link provided there and follow the instructions. This means your program is part of YU START, a summer-long program to help prepare you for university. YU START is for newly admitted high school students entering programs in the following Faculties: Arts, Media, Performance & Design; Environmental & Urban Change; Health; and most programs in both the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and Faculty of Science.

A registration deposit is required after you enrol in courses. This is a non-refundable deposit that is part of your tuition fee. Your deposit confirms your registration at York University and unlocks services you will need to prepare for the start of classes and continue through your courses.
Note: If you are an Ontario high-school student you are not required to pay the deposit before your deadline to respond to your offer of admission. You'll find out more information at your enrolment appointment.

Understand Your Tuition & Fees
At York University, your tuition fee is determined by the number of courses (credits) you enroll in each semester. For this reason, your tuition amount will not be finalized until you complete your course enrolment. Most students enroll in five courses per semester. View estimated tuition for two semesters (one academic year) here.
Pay your enrolment deposit, residence charges, course/program fees or any other charges reflected on your student account through your bank, credit union or caisse populaire via telephone or online banking.
To find out when and what you owe for your courses, check your student account. You can set up access to your student account via Passport York online or at your enrolment appointment. For more information, visit the Student Financial Services website.
Student account online statements become available online around the 18th day of each month and an email notification is sent as a reminder. You will need your Passport York ID to access your personal online student account.

If you are making payments from a Canadian bank account, you can pay by using telephone or online banking. Find detailed instructions on the Student Financial Services website.
If you are making payments from a bank account outside of Canada, you need to pay by a wire transfer (bank-to-bank transfer).
- York University has partnered with two reputable financial service providers who offer secure online portals for international students to make wire payments to York University. Bank account information for making a wire transfer is available only by registering with one of our partner financial service providers. To start off your payment process, please read the complete instructions here.
- York University does not provide its bank account information directly to the students; please register with one of our partner service providers to obtain the account information you need to make the payment.
- Please note that wire payments from overseas may take a few weeks before they are received by York University.

- Receipts will appear in your MyFile upon receipt of your wire transfer payment. Please note that wire payments from overseas may take a few days before they are received by York University.

Maintain Your Offer
After you’ve accepted your offer, you must continue to meet the conditions of your admission for your chosen program of study. All offers of admission are conditional, even once you have accepted your offer.
To maintain your offer you must:
1. Meet Your Program's Minimum Final Grade Requirements
York University expects that your final results will be consistent with the midterm or predicted grades submitted for your admission offer. Each academic program has specific requirements including overall final grade averages and prerequiste course grades.
Minimum admission standards for the university are required from all curriculum/school types.
In addition to meeting grade requirements, you must meet any additional conditions mentioned in your formal offer letter on MyFile, and accept your offer of admission by the deadline in your letter.
Understand Your Admission Conditions
2. Complete Your High School Diploma (if applicable)
If you applied to York University as a high school student (a direct-entry applicant), you must successfully complete your high school diploma as a condition of your admission.
3. Submit Your Final Grades by August 15
For all admitted students for Fall (September) 2024, York University must receive your final grades by August 15, 2024. Final grades will confirm your graduation status, and confirm that you still meet the minimum grade requirements for your program.
How to submit your grades:
- Ontario high-school students: Your final transcript is sent automatically through your high school. If you are taking summer school, correspondence or night classes, check to make sure your high school has an up-to-date record of all courses you have completed or are currently completing so that all of your final grades are sent to York.
- Out-of-province domestic students: Kindly have your school send official final transcripts to our mailing address by August 15, 2024.
- International students: A final, official transcript must be sent to the Admission Office upon completion of your current semester/term to verify that admission conditions have been met.
