Develop a systematic understanding of the problems and potentialities of international society
The International Studies program at Glendon is designed to develop a systematic understanding of the problems and potentialities of international society with special reference to its theoretical, strategic, legal, economic and cultural dimensions.
The program takes an innovative three-pillar approach, giving students the option to concentrate on a specific aspect of international studies: Culture & International Civil Society, Resources & Well-Being, or Order & Society. When combined, they greatly strengthen the student’s capacity for a more genuine interdisciplinary and multicultural analysis of international relations and global issues.
A Unique Program
Choice
Glendon's International Studies program is available as a bilingual or trilingual International Bachelor of Arts (iBA). An iBA degree program reflects York's commitment to internationalization and includes advanced-level language training and an international experience on exchange at one of our partner institutions abroad.
Recognition
To stimulate research activities at the undergraduate level, the best student essays are selected each year and assembled as “Glendon Papers”.
Events
The Glendon Student Annual International Studies Symposium is a project entirely conceived and managed by students. It was initiated during the 1995-1996 academic year by a group of highly motivated students eager to deepen their knowledge and experience of foreign countries or regions and the relations between Canada and those countries or regions.
Travel
In your fourth year, you’ll have the opportunity of embarking on an internship to experience an international environment and the practical functioning of the relations between countries. The internship can be done in Canada or abroad, in the public or private sector, and it can deal with any major dimension (strategic, economic, legal, diplomatic and cultural) of international study.
