Canadian Business for Internationally Educated Professionals
Liberal Arts & Professional Studies
Professional Certificates allow you to complete a specific group of university courses (for credit). Additional details on certificates are available.
Facilitating the transition of internationally educated professionals (IEP) into Canada is a high priority for government, non-governmental organizations, professional accreditation bodies as well as private sector organizations. York is committed to developing a long-term strategy for promoting the successful transition of IEPs to Canadian employment commensurate with their foreign qualifications.
This Professional Certificate in Canadian Business for Internationally Educated Professionals appeals to those who already have a degree and work experience from outside of Canada in one of the following areas and want to grow their knowledge, skills or networks for the Canadian workplace:
- accounting
- finance
- management
- marketing
- public administration
At York University’s IEP Bridging Program you will complete three university-level courses (9 credits) designed exclusively for IEPs to ensure your soft skills are top notch, providing a full overview and practice of communication, teamwork, cross-cultural problem solving, leadership, business law or management skills within the Canadian context. The program also lets you take up to five advanced-level university courses (15 credits) in your area of specialization. Through these specialized courses, you will acquire up-to-date local professional knowledge and skills in your areas of expertise.
The program offers students the foundational skills necessary to succeed in securing positions in business in the Canadian context, while also (in some cases) fulfilling requirements toward a professional designation.
