Practical Ethics is an exciting new area of study and research. The area of practical ethics provides the opportunity to apply ethical concepts and principles to contemporary social issues. Our professors, who come from a variety of backgrounds including business and law, are conducting research in such areas as conflicting or competing values in environmental development projects; international intervention and refugee assistance; and, immigration and racial profiling.
You'll be prepared for careers in the growing fields of ethics consulting and research. You could work on the ethics committee of a hospital or for government agencies who assess ethical implications of various governmental proposals. You might advise organizations on the ethics of international conventions or work in a major law firm or business.
Completion of the Certificate in Practical Ethics will enable you to address questions of applied ethics and public policy in the fields of anthropology, economics, humanities, philosophy, political science, social science and sociology.
