Biology
Biology encompasses the study of all living organisms, from the molecular level to the level of ecosystem. This program is York’s longest-established scientific program, with internationally-recognized teaching faculty. Through Biology you can specialize in a particular field of life science, such as molecular and structural biology, genetics, cell biology, ecology or physiology.
Biology

Glendon’s small classes offer a personalized experience with advanced hands-on research opportunities rarely offered before grad school.
Biomedical Science
Biomedical Science seeks to understand the body on molecular, cellular and macro levels, and how this knowledge can help prevent and treat illness. Through your studies, you will draw on different areas of life science, including biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, physiology and biotechnology.
Biochemistry
Through Biochemistry, explore biological systems at the molecular level. Analyze the physiology and the structures, properties and changes of biomatter. Put your knowledge to use in areas like medical diagnostics, food safety, cosmetics chemistry and environmental monitoring.
Chemistry
Explore the world on the molecular level by learning to design, build and test molecules critical to human health, sustainability, and the environment. Take the Pharmaceutical & Biological Chemistry stream to explore interactions between biological systems and chemicals, including pharmaceuticals.
Kinesiology & Health Science
Examine how physical activity enhances health, prevents disease, and supports overall well-being of individuals and communities, locally and globally. This nationally accredited program offers more course selections than any other university in Canada. Gain hands-on experience through labs, York’s unique movement-based courses, and an optional co-op that prepares you for diverse health-related careers.
