About the Program
The Commerce Qualification Year is a pathway to York Commerce. It offers a focused first year of study with all the courses you will need to be considered for second-year entry to the Bachelor of Commerce program. This option is ideal if you don’t meet direct entry requirements for York Commerce but still want to pursue business studies. By successfully completing 24 credits, including Commerce Qualification Year required courses, with a final cumulative GPA of 5.0 (C+), you will be able to join the York Commerce program in second year. If you are not successful in completing the Commerce Qualification Year requirements, the credits you earned in first year will allow you to pursue other programs, such as Economics, Business Economics or Public Policy and Administration.

Applied Learning Opportunities
Gain real-world experience, build marketable skills and apply theories learned in the classroom through Experiential Education (EE) at York. These hands-on learning experiences can occur within a course, community, or work/professional setting and include opportunities such as co-op, internships, practicums, placements, capstone projects, field courses, community-based research or case competitions that happen in a class. During your degree, you will deepen the learning objectives of a course or program, apply knowledge and be better prepared for the job market after graduation.
